About Us
Maverick started in 2003 in the aerobics room of a local fitness gym. What started out as fitness boxing classes for a few people quickly transformed into a small, dedicated group of students who were interested in learning Boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
At this time Suzanne was training with Richard Bustillo and Helio Soneca, and bringing them both down to Huntsville to teach seminars in their respective arts.
Over time, mostly through word of mouth, class sizes continued to grow. Maverick then went from being a small club in a fitness gym to being one of the most recognizable and successful gyms in the Southeast.
Though Maverick has grown, we have maintained the same small gym community atmosphere that we believe separates us from the rest.
In 2016, Maverick joined the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Association under multiple time World Champion Andre Galvao and and is located in historic downtown Huntsville.
